Tooth Fairy

Lucie came to stay for the weekend and proudly announced she has not one, but two wobbly teeth! She asked if I could make a Tooth Fairy Box for her in orange. Nanna did what Nanna's do; I made her an orange Tooth Fairy Box. A quick visit to my craft room yielded some card and stamps. Lucie chose the fairy she wanted. She used one of my Woodware fine nozzle glue pots, sprinkled some Jones Tones Glitter and Hey Presto! Within 30 minutes the box was made and I had an absolutely delighted grand-daughter!

Well done Lucie!

Birthday Card

A birthday card was needed for a dear friend of mine. Liz and I worked together for many years in a reception class. I used some chevron paper from a paper pad and used a brand new die from Creative Expressions by Sue Wilson called Butterflies in Flight, and a butterfly punch. I finished off the card with a few gems to add some bling.

Final Card in the Trilogy

Yet another anniversary card in similar design, but different colours. I just love the
colour combination of silver, white and purple. It looks so clean. It's great to to be able
to use some of my small snippets up!

Note to self, I need to buy a small easel to stand the cards on when I photograph them!

Same Card, Different Colourway

I needed to make a card for a friend's birthday. I decided to make the same card
in a different colourway. I can't believe how different it looks in white and pink.
Using tiny snippets of card left over from the die cut it allowed me to punch out
some butterflies and flowers to use as embellishments.

An Anniversary Card

My crafting mojo is certainly returning. A friend was celebrating her Golden Wedding Anniversary, so an opportunity to use one of my brand new dies.

I used gold mirri and ivory card to create a clean and simple look adding ivory pearls to the centre of the flowers. Finally three little pearls were added to the corner of the card to pull it all together.

Hallowe'en Charity Fundraising

I'm not a lover of Hallowe'en. Never have and never will be. But sometimes in life you have to bite the bullet. I made these little pots for a well known coffee shop
to raise funds for a school they are building. I made 100 of these little pots in green, orange and black. Fingers crossed, they will all sell.

Pokemon Card

My grandson was 7 years old at the end of September - (where has that time gone!!)
He loves Pokémon, even chasing them when he goes for days out. His coup, was finding the special red Pokémon, Vulpix. You can only find it at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Pokémon was the theme for his birthday card. Using my Martha Stewart
scoring board, for the first time, I made a box card. I printed some
of the little characters, cut them out and added them to the card.
I added a personalized greeting and put a handwritten
message on the back for him.

There was one very happy little boy on the 30th September.

Another Bag!

Having seen my button embellished hessian bag, my grand-daughter, Lucie asked me if I could make her a button bag but with orange buttons.

Orange is her favourite colour and has been for as long as I can remember. I set out looking for buttons. Orange is not a popular colour for buttons so I went to a button company in Harrogate, Yorkshire who solved my dilemma.

The end result is pictured below. Lucie is delighted with her shopping bag.

My Sewing Project

My Latest Project

I bought this bag jute bag in Harrogate whilst on holiday. The shop had a bag they had decorated in the window. I decided to make one of my own. I bought the plain bag and set out collecting buttons and embellishments from various shops. One bag, one needle, some thread and 44 buttons later, this is the finished result.

Rainbow Canvas

A colleague at work has left to move to Cornwall. She and her partner and children are living the dream they longed for. I wanted to make her a little something to remind her of the time she worked with so many children in school. This is what I made...

I bought a canvas and some acrylic paints. I painted the canvas and coloured some pearls with Promarkers to match the rainbow. I printed the poem, drew boxes around the words by hand, cut each word individually and placed them onto the canvas. Finally I punched some tiny butterflies from off-cuts of card and placed them at the end of the verse.

Cogs!

A male card. I find it hard to get inspiration for male birthday cards, but the cog dies made making this card easier than anticipated. I embossed a piece of black card and stuck it to a base card. I added the joined cogs using a glue pen. The smaller cogs were cut with snippets of the mirror card and randomly stuck on around the computer generated greeting.

Clean and Simple Cards

Three sympathy cards have unfortunately been needed. I do not find it easy using 'With Sympathy' sentiments, preferring to use 'Thinking Of You'.
I used 'Thinking of You' sentiments for the cards I made for my two nieces on the sudden and very unexpected death of their father. Somehow, a deeper more meaningful sentiment was needed for Symon's elderly parents. I decided 'With Sympathy' was the correct one to use.

I really like white on white cards and I used pearls and a matching coloured background to the sentiment just to make the card 'pop'.

This stamp is a wooden stamp and has been in my stash for years - literally. I can even remember buying it. It was being demonstrated with bleach being added to the finished card!! However, I digress. I used my ink dusters to create this background and then stamped in various green shades of Versa inks. I doubled matted the card and mounted it onto an embossed piece of card using the Tied Together embossing folder. Three pearls and a sentiment completed this card.

Another Anniversary

I sing in a Ladies Barbershop Chorus and one of the ladies, Pearl and her husband Jeff are celebrating their 49th Wedding Anniversary. Quite an achievement I think! Pearl is also a card maker, so I wanted to make something clean and simple.  I have discovered Wild Studio Dies, and used Love Bird Tree - a brand new die. The embossed background was created using Tied Together. I cut the tree in mirror card and cut the birds and hearts in some snippets of turquoise glitter card I had. The greeting is computer generated. I finished the card with three tiny diamante gems.

Butterfly Mobile

Following on from my Christmas Angel mobile, I decided to try using my butterfly die and glitter card. The die is Peacock Butterfly by Wild Rose Studio. It is just as sparkly as the angel one. I have used an acrylic bead to weight it down as well. I'm seeing my dies in a totally new way.

My first make for Christmas 2016. An angel mobile using glitter card and an acrylic bead to weigh it down. I used Joy! Crafts Vintage Flourishes Christmas Angel and stuck them back-to-back.

Christening Card

A stepper christening card today for my youngest grand-daughter. Lillie has been named after her great-grandparents. Lillie, (Lily) was my daughter-in-law's grandmother and Cynthia and Florence are my mother's and grandmother's names. She will be  christened wearing the christening gown that was hand made for my mother by her Aunt Gwendoline,  and Lillie's Great-Great-Great Aunt!!
I used the Tattered Lace Ornate Cross Die and pastel shades of card in lilacs and pinks.

Anniversary Card

I'm back in the land of blogging after almost 12 months of truancy!

My friend Liz and her husband Alan were celebrating their 42nd Wedding Anniversary. I used this opportunity to get back into crafting. I used the Memory Box Dies called Grand Heart and La Rue Heart. I just had enough of the gold card left to cut a rectangle to use on the front of the card and the ornate heart topping. The greeting is computer generated and the surround to the card has a gold border of peel offs .

Frosty Fairies

I needed some general use notelets, so with my DH working all weekend, it was time to get crafting. I love using the ink duster brushes, so got out my stamps for a productive afternoon. The fairy stamps were bought for me for Christmas and I hadn't got round to using them - a good opportunity to 'christen' them.

When I look at this card, I feel quite cold! I must use warmer colour next time!

Valentine's Day Cards

I belong to a ladies barbershop chorus. Funds are currently low and rather than increase our subscriptions we are fundraising. We are only a small chorus - only 20 members. I offered to make some Valentine's Day cards with the money going into chorus funds. A selection of the cards are below. I enjoyed using the flamingo die. By sheer luck, I found that if you put two facing each other, their heads and necks form a heart <3 . The greetings on these cards were computer generated.

AWOL :(

Five months to the day! Goodness, in some ways it seems much longer, in others much shorter. Five months ago I started coughing and became quite unwell. Initially, the Drs told me it was a clot on the lung, but no, it was pneumonia. Five long months of coughing, CT scans, Xrays, antibiotics and I'm still coughing, but thankfully much better than I was.

My mojo had sadly left me, but my daughter-in-law shared a rather lovely quote on her Facebook page. I knew I had to do something for her incorporating the quote. Baby is due today, but she is still safely tucked away. This is the quote she posted :

Butterfly Quotes pregancy quote and saying - man kissing wifes belly

Below is the canvas I made for her. Anyone who knows me will understand the amount of effort that went into creating it. I do not do messy. Two pairs of gloves were required to paint the canvas.
