September Celebrations

September is one of the busy months for me with friends and family celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Two friends are celebrating their anniversaries this month. After the Art Journaling Day, I was more than happy to go back to the clean and simple style I love. My husband calls it 'simple and effective'. I decided to try an all white card and embossed a piece of card to give it some texture. I used the Stampin' Up bird punch and used some small pearls for eyes. I used foam pads to give the bird components lift. The greeting is computer generated.

To see the card the recipient made for her husband, click on the link below.

The second card is for a friend of the family. I thought I would add a splash of colour to the card and added a red heart.

Art Journaling

Saturday, saw me Art Journaling for the first time. This technique is so far out of my comfort zone.

I arrived ready to start with two pairs of gloves. The day began and I found myself struggling to cope with the technique. I had so many words of encouragement and so much support from friends I completed the day and had three pieces of art journaling to show for it. My attempts are pictured below.

I'm so pleased I completed the pieces of work but I know Art Journaling is not for me.

Notelets

I have lots of strips of card left over from the stationery I made. I've been wondering what I could do with it, and then it occurred to me! I needed 24 thank you cards ~ problem solved :)

I trimmed the card so it measured 4"x8" and folded it in half. Using my ink dusters I used Adirondack Meadow to colour the bottom of the card and Adirondack Sunshine Yellow to colour the top of the card. I stamped the sunflower using Versafine Onyx.

All the notelets are now written and ready for the recipients. (The card below isn't creased, it's the shadow from my camera).

Ruby Wedding

My cousin Christine, and her husband, Michael are celebrating their Ruby Wedding Anniversary next weekend, so it was an opportunity to get crafty and make a card. I love the effect spirelli gives. I used a piece of hammer card from my stash and punched some spirelli shapes from some snippets of cream and red card. I used some gold thread for weaving and finally punched some hearts  from the red card left over. The red shapes were stuck flat to the card and the cream toppers were put on foam pads to elevate them slightly. The greeting was typed on the computer using the shade of red that matched the card.

Wedding

Well, I am back from the family holiday and wedding celebrations in Scotland. The bride loved her silver sixpence and the wedding stationery received a round of applause. It was a gorgeous day, lots of memories to treasure.

Monochrome Washi Tape

Before I clear my crafting table for holidays and days out, I decided I would have a go at using washi tape. Washi tape is  new experience for me, and it took three attempts at using it before I was happy with this card. I have so many black and silver snippets of card left over from Stephen's wedding stationery that I really need to start using! I love monochrome cards. I think they look clean and elegant.

I die cut the two shapes using Spellbinders big scalloped ovals and the butterfly is also from
Spellbinders.

Something Old, Something New

Phew! I can take a deep breath and relax. DH, Jim and I have been making all the wedding stationery for my niece, Natalie and her future husband, Tony. We also made the stationery for our two sons Christopher and his wife Katie, and Stephen and his wife Leanne.

We gave both DILs a silver sixpence with their mother's dates of birth on them to wear in their left shoe for good luck. I told my sister, Sarah about the tradition and Natalie will now also have a silver sixpence.

I made two little presentation boxes for the said sixpence. Sarah has chosen the one with little pearls on it. I will put the poem inside the box.

My first post to kickstart my blog.

I was going to wait until September to start posting, but why wait? There's no time like the present. So here goes....

Thought I'd start with an acceptance card for a dinner party my husband and I have been invited to in August.

I punched  a 3" circle from an offcut of card that was left over from some wedding stationery I made. I attached it to the card base using Herma. I used the African Daisy Tapestry stamps using Versa Colour inkpads (violet, evergreen, gold, charcoal and grape). I lifted the circle and put it onto foam pads and re-attached it to the card, Finally, I used some star dust Stickles.
